At Real World Careers, operated by Advanced Learning Academy, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information

We collect information you provide or that is required to deliver the product:

• Contact: Email address (and name if you provide it)
• Payment: Processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. Stripe may provide payment intent / session identifiers and billing country
• Career Fit assessment: Answers, response times, six domain scores, composite score (max 110) on the 50-question assessment
• Credential: Server-issued credential code, package tier (Career Fit $99 or Professional $199), issue and expiry dates (three-year job-tool window under current offer)
• Job tools: Optional ZIP / search preferences you enter
• Communications: Messages to team@advancedlearning.academy

Automatically Collected Information

• Usage: Pages viewed, basic feature use
• Device: Browser type, approximate network metadata (IP) via hosting/security providers
• Cookies / local storage: Essential function, consent preference, and optional analytics if you accept. Local storage is not used as proof of payment

2. How We Use Your Information

• Deliver Career Fit assessment, report path, and job-tool access for your paid package
• Issue and verify server-side credentials after Stripe payment
• Process refunds under the published Terms (7-day policy as stated at checkout)
• Send transactional email (receipt, credential, support) via Mailgun
• Host and protect the site on Cloudflare
• Prevent fraud, abuse, and forged credentials
• Comply with law and protect our rights
• Optional product updates — marketing email only with opt-out

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your assessment data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or Career Fit scores for third-party marketing.

We share limited data with:

• Stripe — payments
• Cloudflare — hosting, security, edge compute / D1 storage for credentials and bound scores
• Mailgun — transactional email
• Employers you choose — only if you share your credential code; they can verify status and bound summary fields you authorize
• Legal / safety — if required by law or to protect rights and security

Affiliates: If you buy via an affiliate link, we may share commission metadata (not full assessment scores) with that affiliate.

4. Assessment and credential protection

• Answer keys for scoring are not published in client item banks
• Paid full scoring requires a server-validated credential
• Public verify checks the server database; invented codes are rejected
• Demo / preview modes are labeled and are not employer credentials
• Results are decision-support only — not medical, IQ classification, or hire decisions

5. Data Retention

• Credential and paid access records: Kept while access is active and as needed for fraud prevention and legal records
• Career Fit scores bound to a credential: Retained for the access window and reasonable archival thereafter unless you request deletion
• Search preferences: Up to 12 months or until you clear them
• Transaction records: Typically 7 years where required for tax/accounting

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you have rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of your data
• Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
• Right to Erasure: Delete your account and data
• Right to Portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to Object: Opt-out of marketing communications
• Right to Restrict Processing: Limit how we use your data

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies as follows (same rules as the Cookie Policy and the consent banner):

• Essential cookies: security, checkout session, and your consent preference. These are required for the site to work.
• Optional analytics: Google Analytics (G-PEKGGXXRFW) loads only if you Accept on the banner. Decline means it does not load.
• Referral cookie: a first-party ala_ref cookie for 90 days when you arrive through a partner link. It credits the partner. It is not an advertising pixel.

We do not use advertising, retargeting, or social-media tracking cookies. Blocking essential cookies can break checkout and the assessment.

If you enter your email address during checkout, we store it so we can deliver your purchase and, if you do not complete checkout, send you a reminder. You may opt out of reminder emails at any time using the link in the email.

8. Third-Party Links

When you leave this site to apply for a job (The Muse, Remotive, an employer ATS, or another board), that site’s privacy policy applies. Paid job search currently calls The Muse public jobs API and Remotive, plus Direct Openings posted here. We do not currently call USAJOBS, Jooble, or Adzuna. Review the destination site’s policy before applying.

9. Children's Privacy

Real World Careers is not intended for individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we have collected data from a child, we will delete it immediately.

10. Security Measures

• SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmission
• Credential and score records stored in Cloudflare D1; transmission is HTTPS. We do not claim field-level encryption of every column.
• Hosting and transport on Cloudflare (HTTPS). Periodic forensic reviews of the public property
• No consumer 2FA is offered — there is no consumer password account on Career Fit
• Employer-portal demo login is labeled as a browser demo and is not a password account

While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. There is no consumer password account on Career Fit.

11. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. If you access our platform from outside the US, your data will be transferred, stored, and processed in the US in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on our platform. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when changes were made.
